Salem Events Oct 8-15: Dog March, Glass Pumpkins, Free PEM Day

A pet parade, a boat parade and glass pumpkins on the Common, all Saturday morning.

By , From Witch City ·

Saturday morning is the good one. Three things happen within a few hundred yards of each other, two of them free, and you can walk all of it before lunch. Then on Monday, the Peabody Essex Museum drops admission to zero for Indigenous Peoples' Day.

IF YOU DO ONE THING

Go watch the dogs march Derby Wharf.

The Howl-o-ween Pet Parade is the single most enjoyable half hour of the month and the owners commit harder than the dogs do. Stay where you are afterward and the Halloween Boat Parade comes through the same water at 11:30, then the glass pumpkins open on the Common at 11. Three things, one walk, no tickets.
